Saturday the 16th March saw the opening of the $1.2 billion Solaire Resort & Casino by Philippine president Benigno Aquino, which is the first of four such developments at the Entertainment City, on Manila Bay.

The aim of the resort is to introduce international casino resorts to the Philippines and bring them into the super leagues, along with Macau and Las Vegas.

“Macau and Singapore are always competing for bigger pieces of this industry’s very lucrative pie. Your presence in the country is proof positive that… above all else, the Philippines works,” Mr Aquino said in a speech to Entertainment City investors and others guests.

The Public Relations Society of the Philippines (PRSP) the premier organization or PR Professionals in the country will hold its first PR FORUM this year.  This will be  at the Hardrock Cafée in Glorietta Makati on March 21 at 4-7p.m..  The quarterly forum  which will also serve as the society’s regular general membership meeting will feature interesting topics and speakers relevant to practitioners and enthusiasts, both members and non-members alike.  For this forum, it will feature a sharing on “80 Years of Petron: PR Practices of an Anvil Hall of Famer” .  Another highlight is an expected lively discussion by senior editor, writer, columnist and bestseller author Ms. Jullie Yap Daza who will talk on “What I Like and Don’t Like about PR Peeps”. 

The merienda meeting will also be an opportunity combining networking, sharing, fellowship and learning .  New members will be inducted and birthday celebrants for the months of January, February and March will be greeted.  Games and raffles will provide the fun part of the forum .  Merienda is free for PRSP members while non-members will be assessed Php 500 each only.  For more details, interested parties may call the PRSP secretariat at 6239479.
